How Do I Hire the Right Person?
My name is Steven Kohnke and I am one of the coaches here at Denver Business Coach. A major question that we get here is How do I Hire the Right Person?
A major consideration, something that you really have to know before you start hiring that right person is what your business's foundation is, and then finding someone that aligns with that foundation.
So what that means is you have to understand what your business's (1)Core Values are, what your business's (2)Mission Statement is, and what your business's (3)Vision Statement is.
FROM THERE, you have to understand what your business's goals and objectives are, and then being able to find someone that aligns with those goals and objectives. That will help create that successful and sustainable long term relationship.
If you're hiring to just get the job done, then do not expect that person to last very long.
That may help you out in the short term, which is fine if that is what you're looking for, however, real growth comes from being able to keep those you hire around for the long-term.
So I'll talk about this in terms of the 51 | 49 percent rule, where the 51% percent is the FIT for the business, While the 41% is the technical SKILL. You can teach someone the technical side of a job much more easier than you can get someone to change their personality, change what they care about, change what their goals are for you.
So the next time you're considering hiring someone for the first time, make sure that you know what your (1) Core Values are, you know what your (2) Mission Statement is, you know what your (3) Vision Statement is, then the (4) Business Goals and Objectives, both short and long term.
From there, you can start looking at candidates with the technical skill level that you want!
